Chairman Baucus is planning this week to introduce ADA-supported legislation designed to educate young people about the dangers of methamphetamine use, particularly "meth mouth." This legislation is identical to a bill introduced last congress. Last year's bill was paired with a bill drafted to fight "meth mouth" in U.S. prisons: however, it is unlikely that the prison bill will be reintroduced. Chairman Baucus is waiting for a republican cosponsor to sign on before introducing the legislation.

Dessert Night and the AADA

Last November, CADA had a Dessert night held in a Case classroom where we talked about the AADA. How to navigate the website, apply for grants and programs, how to join a local chapter after graduation and how CADA is connected to the ODA, GCDS and AADA. Everyone brought a dessert and we enjoyed the information and each other's company.

Afterwards, we assembled all the packets for our Scranton Elementary School trip the next day.

Family Halloween Carnival

Last October we had our annual Family Carnival for CADA members and their families. We had tons of carnival food, fun, games and prizes!

There was a costume contests for the kids.

We also had a kissing booth where you had to guess the number of Hershey's kisses in a giant jar. Winner received a $50 gift certificate to The Cheesecake Factory.

Welcome Dinner

Our annual CADA Welcome Dinner was held in September. It was a great night of food, fun and meeting new friends. Ladies from the Ohio Dental Association (our big-time supporters) brought us dinner and addressed us about the AADA and the great programs that are available to us. Senior Smiles (July 2008)

CADA participated in the Senior Smiles program last July. We decided to benefit The Magnolia House near Case. We handed out packets of products targeted for Seniors such as denture care, toothbrushes, mouthwash for dry mouth, floss and toothpaste. We also passed out information on caring for older teeth and places they could go for free or discounted dental care. There were dental students on hand to answer questions and put the club members minds at ease about seeing a dentist. We reached about 75 members.The remaining packets were donated to a senior center in Little Italy.
