CADA was featured in the current issue of the OHIANA. Here is the article about GKASD on February 3rd:
"The Case Alliance Dental Association was represented at Give Kids a Smile Day on February 3rd at Case Western with four volunteers: Kyla Rollins, Angela Harrison, Amy VanYperen, and Kara Jensen. CADA volunteers helped to keep track of and entertain the school children after they had received their dental care. Each member had a puppet to help teach the children proper oral hygiene. CADA had a great song to help the kids remember to brush their teeth (to the tune of Row, Row, Row Your Boat):
"Brush, brush, brush your teeth
Brush them night and day,
Keep them bright,
Make them shine,
Brush the plaque away"
CADA was able to entertain over 500 children after they received dental care from Case Western students. It was a very successful day and CADA was glad to be a part of it."

Here is a what Michele Goldberg, DHE Chair, had to say about GKASD:
"Give Kids A Smile Day is an annual centerpiece to National Children's Dental Health Month and is observed every year on the first Friday in February. National Children's Dental Health Month focuses on providing oral health education to all children despite their economic status. Give Kids A Smile was designed to provide education, preventative and restorative care to low-income children who do not have access to care.
This year the state kick-off event was held at Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Kim Gardner, President-Elect of the Ohio Dental Association, gave welcoming remarks and introduced Senator Sherrod Brown. Other special guests include several Ohio Representatives; Dr. Theodore Wymyslo (Director of the Ohio Department of Health) and Karen Butler (Director of Public Health for the City of Cleveland). Also present were Dean Jerold Goldberg of CWRU School of Dental Medicine and Mark Sirney from Henry Schein (a national sponsor of GKASD).
Throughout the day the dental students saw approximatley 535 children who recieved dental exams as well as preventative and some restorative care. The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile was on site with dentists in attendance also giving free care to these children. Entertainment and interaction with fun guests CHOMPS (the Cleveland Browns mascot), SLIDER (the Cleveland Cavaliers mascot), and MOONDOG (the Cleveland Cavaliers mascot) took place throughout the day. The children were greeted by the tooth fairy as they entered the school. This Friday event was the culmination of three additional days (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) when children from 3 Cleveland area elementary schools (George Washington Carver, Harvey Rice, and Marion Seltzer) were seen for free dental screenings and oral health education in the state of the art Bright Smiles, Bright Futures dental van. Kathy Kne and Michele Goldberg,
along with 4 members of Case Alliance Dental Association (Kara Jensen, Kyla Rollins, Angela Harrison, and Amy VanYperen) represented the Alliances of the Ohio Dental Association and Greater Cleveland Dental Society. The Dipper Dan and Meth-Mouth Mary models evoked quite a few questions from the adults present.
The CADA members did an exceptional job interacting with the children by singing songs with a dental health theme and using large puppets for one-on-one oral hygiene instruction. At one point, the student spouses seemed surrounded by 200 children all clamoring for attention and an opportunity to brush the teeth of the puppets! The children's experience was greatly enhanced by CADA's efforts and, thanks to these young women, the day was one to be remembered by everyone."
